“We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."

— Charles R. Swindoll

How my journey began

My name is Caity, and I'd like to share my story with you - a journey of overcoming challenges, embracing resilience, and discovering the power within ourselves to thrive.

I was born with a rare visual condition called Aniridia, which has rendered me legally blind throughout my life. Since my early days, I harbored grand aspirations of making a difference in the world. My heart yearned to care for animals as a veterinarian or to share knowledge as a college professor. Education was instilled as a core value in my family, but the path to academic success was not always smooth.

In the early years of schooling, I faced difficulties as teachers struggled to understand how to cater to my unique abilities. Consequently, I found myself nearly failing the 1st grade. Fortunately, my parents recognized my intellectual potential and sought a teacher who would work with me. That summer, I learned the entire 1st-grade curriculum and did not fall behind. This experience taught me the importance of advocating for myself and being my own ally in educational settings and in life.

I learned to advocate for myself and what I needed with teachers. My determination and conviction left no room for doubt—I knew I was capable, and failure was not an option. But despite finding my voice in educational settings, I still struggled with insecurities and unresolved resentment about my vision. I became a perfectionist, relentlessly seeking validation and striving to be "good enough." Any mistake was met with harsh self-criticism, and I neglected to address the emotional turmoil I experienced, leading to poor eating habits and acting from a defensive place rather than a loving, peaceful place.

Hoping that college would bring clarity and purpose, I pursued various majors but remained unsure of my path. Eventually, armed with a degree in Creative Writing, I ventured to Seattle, a city recommended for its accessibility, to discover my next steps. There, I found independence, made amazing friends, held my first real job at a non-profit organization, and experienced personal growth that gradually infused me with confidence and self-compassion.

It was here, in my new home, life took a challenging turn as I encountered unforeseen health struggles. A severe stomach stenosis caused my weight to plummet, and I found myself tipping the scale at close to 100 pounds. The gravity of the situation demanded surgery, but my body was too malnourished and weak to undergo the procedure. Undeterred by the obstacles in my path, I resolved to press forward, remaining steadfast in my commitment to work despite the formidable health challenges. With determination in my heart, I carried my TPN bag to work with me daily for weeks until my body was strong enough to go through a surgical procedure.

After gaining my health back, I knew it was time to move away from my job at the non-profit and move towards a career I felt was my calling, working in higher education. With it feeling like the stars had aligned for me, I applied for graduate school. Graduate school marked a turning point in my life, where I formed lasting friendships and felt aligned with my purpose.

After graduation, I embarked on a fulfilling journey in the higher education sector, guiding and mentoring students at prestigious universities. But I yearned to do more. Combining my passion for empowering others with my deep understanding of personal growth, I aspired to become a credentialed coach.

I believe it's essential to acknowledge that mindset work is a constant process for me. I've been in the depths of unhealthy thoughts, unable to see the positive aspects around me. However, I've also experienced the strength that comes from adopting a warrior's mentality, ready to conquer challenges and believe in the possibility of making once-impossible dreams a reality.

Together, we can break barriers, rise above limitations, and embrace the beauty of our uniqueness. Through my coaching, I hope to support you on this transformative journey as we defy expectations, overcome challenges, and seize the extraordinary opportunities that life has to offer. Let us embrace our stories, celebrate our strengths, and build a future that knows no bounds. I am right here with you, walking hand in hand, ready to conquer the obstacles and embrace the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.

Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
— Joshua J. Marine

If I’ve learned anything from the challenges I’ve experienced in my life, it is that…

Anyone can overcome limitations or obstacles if they develop a strong mindset and are committed to the process of being better today than you were yesterday. YOU MATTER. You can make a difference.
